For an organization of its scale, the largest municipal paramedic service in North America, that model was not unusual. But over time, it became increasingly clear that it was no longer sufficient. Workforce growth, evolving patient care needs, and aging vehicle platforms all pointed to the same conclusion: incremental updates were no longer enough. Instead of making decisions solely based on operational technicalities, TPS set out to develop a fleet built around the needs of paramedics and patients. Accomplishing this required one key shift: gathering meaningful input.<\/p><p>\u201cHistorically, we never really had documented input into the product that we were using,\u201d explains Stefano DiCiccio, Operations Commander at TPS.\u00a0<\/p><p>This transition marked the beginning of a broader transformation, one that moved TPS from a fleet-centred approach to a medic-centred design philosophy.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6fea8d8 elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"6fea8d8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\u201cIt\u2019s about getting the right product for the paramedic and for the patient. While refinements continue, the overall experience has improved. Feedback from the field highlights improvements in space, ergonomics, and workflow. \u201cThe biggest change was the height in the back. I could stand upright and be comfortable,\u201d says DiCiccio.<\/p><p>While adjustments continue, they are largely focused on refinement rather than correction. As with any major change, there was an initial adjustment period. But with time and exposure, confidence has grown, and the benefits have become more evident. \u201cOnce people start using it regularly\u2026 they get more comfortable with it,\u201d Liriano notes.\u00a0<\/p><p>Perhaps the most lasting impact of this project is not the new ambulance, but the approach behind it.
