Electric Ambulances
We are working to design the ambulances of tomorrow.
The electric ambulance is a hot topic! For years the automotive industry has been innovating to offer more sustainable and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. Significant advances have accelerated the transition to cleaner vehicles, and as a result, ambulances will evolve in the coming years.
Crestline does not offer an electric ambulance model at this time. However, our teams are learning from the Bus Division, which already features electric vehicles and from our partner brand, Demers Ambulances, which has introduced its first electric ambulance.
Introducing the Demers eFX electric ambulance.
In the Fall of 2021, our brand partner, Demers Ambulances, launched the first purpose-built electric ambulance in the world. The eFX marks the beginning of a new generation of ambulances and a paradigm shift in the chassis and the care module. Designed with input from Canadian paramedics, the eFX redefines the ergonomics of work and reinforces the safety of the paramedic and the patient in a zero-emission emergency vehicle.
We are enhancing our electric ambulance knowledge.
Our team is building on our experience and knowledge by learning the technological intricacies and organizational changes involved in the transition to electric. As a result, we are developing genuine electric expertise internally by adapting production processes, servicing electric vehicles, and assisting customers in the transition to electric.

What are the benefits of transitioning to an electric ambulance fleet?
We all know that the acquisition cost of an electric vehicle is higher than a combustion engine equivalent. But did you know that its lifecycle is also longer? If you calculate and compare operation costs on the equivalent lifecycle duration, the total cost of ownership of an electric ambulance is lower than its gas-powered equivalent.
Here are the meaningful benefits of electric vehicles:
- Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for a more sustainable environment.
- Lower operating costs and fuel.
- Reduce downtimes and maintenance costs.
- Attract the next generation of paramedics with an eco-friendly working environment.
- Access Federal incentives and Provincial grants (available funding differs according to Provincial government).
