What is Eco+?
Eco+ is a smart feature in ambulances that makes sure paramedics are comfortable and that the vehicle uses less fuel. It’s designed to help reduce costs and protect the environment by cutting down on unnecessary fuel burning when the ambulance is not moving.
How Eco+ Works
When Eco+ is on, it automatically manages when the engine should turn off to avoid idling. If the ambulance is parked and the conditions are right (like the right temperature and battery level), Eco+ will turn off the engine to save fuel. If the inside gets too cold or too warm, the engine will turn back on to adjust the temperature and then turn off again.
Benefits of the Improved Eco+ for Paramedics
Eco+ has been upgraded based on real feedback from paramedics, ensuring it meets the needs of those on the front lines. These improvements make a typical day smoother and more comfortable for paramedics. Eco+ also helps save on fuel costs and reduces the wear and tear on the ambulance’s engine, which can save money on maintenance in the long run. This makes it a great tool for managing ambulance fleets more efficiently and sustainably.
Adjustable Temperature
Just like adjusting a thermostat at home, paramedics can now set the interior temperature of the ambulance. Whether it’s a chilly winter day or a scorching summer afternoon, they can ensure the ambulance is always a refuge of comfort. This means patients and paramedics alike can stay at an ideal temperature, making the ride more comfortable for everyone.
Smart Operation
In emergency situations, every second counts. The updated Eco+ system is designed to recognize when the ambulance’s emergency lights are on and the thermostat is set to its highest setting. In these critical moments, it keeps the engine running—no matter what. This means that medical equipment stays powered, and the vehicle is always ready to move at a moment’s notice, ensuring there are no delays in reaching or treating patients.

Better Monitoring
The new Eco+ includes enhanced monitoring of both inside and outside temperatures. This advancement means the system can better maintain a steady, comfortable environment inside the ambulance. Paramedics no longer need to manually adjust settings constantly; they can focus more on patient care, assured that the system is keeping conditions optimal.
Control at Your Fingertips
Even when Eco+ turns the engine off to save fuel during downtime, paramedics retain full control over the ambulance’s environment. With the ability to adjust fan speed and temperature settings manually, they can quickly adapt the interior conditions to suit both their needs and the patient’s comfort. This level of control is particularly valuable during long wait times or when stationed at an event, ensuring the ambulance remains a safe, comfortable space for both paramedics and patients.

Challenges and Solutions
Finding the right balance between comfort and saving fuel can be tricky. For instance, the original setting of 21 degrees Celsius was not always comfortable in very cold or very hot weather. We’ve listened to the feedback and now allow paramedics to set their own temperature. This means more comfort for both the crew and patients.
We’ve also made sure that in emergency situations, or when specific patient needs must be met, the system won’t turn off. This ensures that patient care always comes first.

New Features for Better Care
With new adjustments, paramedics have more control over the environment inside the ambulance:
Temperature and Fan Control: Even in Eco mode, paramedics can change the fan speed and temperature or restart the engine if needed to keep patients comfortable.
Emergency Override: The system won’t go into Eco mode if the ambulance’s emergency lights are on, ensuring the vehicle is ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
Eco+ is Here to Help
Eco+ is now a key feature in our ambulances, designed with both the environment and paramedic needs in mind. It’s an example of how feedback and technology can come together to improve the way we provide emergency services. With Eco+, ambulances are not only more efficient but also better equipped to provide top-notch patient care.
